My Birthday this year saw a lifelong wish come true. Thank you Gielie!
A Day behind the scenes with Marlice van Vuuren at Na’ankuse Wildlife Sanctuary.
Where orphaned animals find a home and lots of love.
The early morning started with a casual stroll through the bush with Madusa, the Caracal. All animals in enclosures are walked on daily basis.
Meet Babi, the Baby Baboon.

ITS LOVE LOVE LOVE
Back from the walk we met Babi, the baby baboon. He hangs around at the Food Prep area, with his milk bottle in his mouth and chases all that has feathers, when tired he looks for the nearest person who will hold him tight while falling asleep. Such a baby. I fell in love!! So looking forward to Babysitting him at our next stay – with nappie and bottle we should be ok.

Gielie undergoing Flea Inspection!
In the Junior Baboon Camp, Gielie and I were entertained/entertaining.
First we underwent a thorough inspection of fleas and ticks, behind our ears, underneath our clothes, in the shoes by all of the juveniles.

Once passed for clean we were considered part of the group and the play could start. Oh what fun! And wild I tell you. I did not want to leave – EVER!!

We trust you to catch us Gaby!
Marlice spent hours showing us her haven, the kindergarten for bushmen children to prepare the children for English schools in the city, giving them a fair chance to succeed, the Bush clinic which now boasts with a permanent nurse and doctor to help with basic healthcare to those who have no access to it, and of course the predator reallocation program which takes problem cats back to nature reserves far away from farmland to avoid conflict between animals and humans. Their research has paid off immensely.
