Life with the van Wahrens...

LIFE...with the van Wahrens...told by Lara (first born Golden Retriever and the Ruler of the Roost!)

Let me tell you what spoiled pets in Windhoek keep themselves busy with:

Our favorite activity is going for walks in the bushfeld - Our Owners Gaby & Gielie tend to get lazy (because they gym very hard during the week) and I take it as my responsibility to remind them. See, I have figured out the Human Clock and know what day and time it is.
On Saturday and Sunday's at EXACTLY 16h00 (midday snooze is SO OVER)I start wining and jumping on my humans until they have no option other than taking us for a walk or drive behind us with the car..
P.S. we love the car option more than the walk, here we can run much faster and further!!!

Swimming is another GREAT Activity..
(Shingi is the Water Baby in this House!)
We used to go swimming at Hasso & Diana's place (Gaby's Parents)- they have a big refreshing pool. Here we could swim and play until too exhausted to do anything but pass out!!

But the swimming had to end recently..Diana got chickens which we arent allowed to chase around the garden (also great thing to do) and we stopped going there.
Luckily we are clever and took Action.. we found replacement in our OWN Garden.. an Italian Fountain / now bath!! :-)

The bees tell me that the chickens have left the house and we can go back again, apparantly they live on a farm now - Who hooo!!
The Car Guard asked if we were twins ;-)
Driving in Cars is my Craze - at best I would sit on the front seat next to Gielie and direct him, but Gaby sits there and i have to sit at the back instructing from here.

Tsosti, the maincoon Cat hates driving, I think its because Gaby & Gielie put him into a Mobile Pet Box.. Sheym, so glad i am not a cat (sometimes)
I think Tsotsi prefers "human suitcases" as he always climbs into them whenever Gaby packs to go somewhere..

But one thing we agree on and all of us love the most:
is Spending Time with our human friends.. to be with them ALL DAY LONG, getting their attention and much much LOVE!!

During the week in town, we are left at home for most of the day.. (Gielie tells us this is necessary to afford our dog food they have to go to the office) so I suppose its ok, because
I LOVE DOG FOOD!

To be honest, it is very entertaining scaring people, animals and cars coming by the yard - afterall its our territory and we decide who comes near..
Gaby says its no use barking at the people since our wagging tails are a give-away (Golden Retriever instinct - just cant help it)

Tsotsi's favorite past time must be ACTING as if he is helping with the household chores. (jumping in every clothing basket, being carried around the house in it, while Gaby sorts the washing.

I am convinced that i am a MUCH better household help, licking the dishes clean when ever i catch the dishwashing machine open..
Gielie hates this, i dont understand why..only trying to help.

Apart from climbing into baskets, the cat loves hiding behind furniture to pounce, imagining he is a predator in the wild, biting and scratching us. Shingi plays along, but me - I am mostly irritated by this.

Tsotsi also enjoys talking to Gielie in a "weired tongue" which I dont understand - but they seem to understand each other. Miaauwing and Purring back and forth - sounds idiotic but they enjoy themselves..

Showing off with Gaby's new Winter Beanie

Very Proud of his Size the Cat loves hanging in human arms - dead weight - while they uuuh and aaahh about how huge he is..

Oh Yes, we also did something odd the other day.. Gaby & Gielie took us to a Photo Studio to have Family Pics taken (we are part of the Fam). We had to sit still and eat "Trocken Wurst" as treats so it was all worth it.. and i think they turned out nicely, dont you???

Anywhoo thats it for now, i think we can
consider us one of the few priviliged on
this planet and wouldnt swop families for
anything in this world...
